Products that can help you with Personal care

General Washing

Whether you Bathe or Shower - if you are struggling - here are some ideas for you!

Bath Brushes

These are a must if you find yourself struggling to reach parts of your body and/or feel like you will lose your balance if you did. There's such a variety now to match what you preferred to be washed with - whether it's a loofah, sponge or brush.

Standard Brush

Sponge Brush

Maybe a brush isn't for you? You might benefit from a long flannel as linked below:

Wash Products

Sometimes access to your shower and bath may be limited! This may be short term (Recovering after hospital admission or awaiting a bathroom adaptation)! But whatever the reason you may find these products helpful!

Worried you won't be able to wash your hair? No fear there's a solution:

No Rinse Shampoo Cap

Need a way to wash without water? With a bit more ease than standard wipes these may help!

Anti-bacterial Wash Mit

Hair

If you just need a temporary solution to help your hair look fresher between hair washes - Maybe you have a hair wash two times a week from a carer for example, then dry shampoo may be a solution for you! This particular brand also helps your hair to smell lush too!

Dry Shampoo - Daytime use

Dry Shampoo - Overnight use

If you are bed bound, or maybe prefer to wash you hair with water then this inflatable basin may help! Please note you'll need support of someone else to help with this.

Showering

Ideas if you need assistance utilising the shower

Shower Chair

Do you need to have a safe rest place in the shower? Unable to stand confidently for a longer period of time? Then it may be worth considering a shower chair to support you.

Shower Stool

Shower Foot Scrubber

A shower mat foot scrubber is a handy, hygiene-focused bathroom aid designed to clean and exfoliate the feet without bending down. It's especially useful for people with limited mobility, balance issues, or those who simply want a more convenient and thorough foot-cleaning routine.

Shower Grab Rails

If you have a step into your shower or would just like something to hold onto whilst your in the shower to give yourself more confidence in your balance - then a grab rail is a must. Again I thoroughly recommend trying to get an occupational therapist to assess the best positions to put these. However, the biggest key is that you try it in many places around your shower unit before you fixed it onto the wall to ensure it is the appropriate and comfortable height.

Bathing

Ideas if you need assistance utilising that well learnt bath!

Bath boards

If you are struggling to get in and out the bath you may want to consider a bath board. A bath board is a flat, sturdy board that sits securely across the top edges of the bath. It acts as a stable seat or platform, allowing the user to sit down outside the bath, swing their legs over, and then slide into position without needing to lower themselves to the bottom of the tub.

Bath Lifts

If your mobility is severely impacted or you fear you are at high risk of slips then a bath lift may be better option for you than a bath board. My personal advice would be to try and get a Occupational Therapist to assess you via a referral to the local authority as they would be able to assess these support mechanisms better for you and may be able to gain a grant or supply this to you cost free. However, it will most likely come with a waiting list.

Bath Step and Bath Mats

Safety is paramount! Therefore if you have limited confidence and mobility then ensuring you have appropriate gripped Bath mats and steps is pivotal.
